Morning Market

The earlier the better. Only 10 minute walk from Baan Pila, we recommend you go for a walk early morning. The market is pretty busy with locals selling goods, foods, morning snacks and other mysterious Lao products. Located next to Wat May temple.

Phosy Market

The biggest market in town. Local and authentic. You'll find everything you need and more! Meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, beauty products, clothes, shoes, kitchen equipment are all mixed together in this covered and uncovered market!

Night Market

Enjoy the night market which takes place every night between 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm on the main street, Sisavangvong Road. Here you will find many local and handcrafted products, providing an excellent opportunity for you to purchase your holiday memories.

PHA AN BEACH

This is our secret spot, near Pak Ou Village on the other side of the cave, about 30 km from the city center. Secret beach spot to enjoy a swim when it is hot, eat local food and drink beer Lao. Perfect for a half day of sunbathing with a scenic view on the Pha Hung Cliff.

Butterfly Park

Just 300 meters from Kuang Si Waterfall parking. Walk through the garden, and discover the countless colourful flowers that invite the butterflies. Learn about the array of host plants that feed the caterpillars. Built in 2013, by 2 passionate people: Olaf and Ineke from the Netherlands.

NamKhan Horses Stables

Your kids will love this! Saddle up and take a journey through the beautiful Lao countryside on horseback. Nature's perspective is different on a horse, so enjoy this experience and visit local villages, meet the friendly Hmong horses and trot through some of Laos scenic forests.
​Recommended for 3-year-olds and up.

Buffalo
​Diary Farm

5 km before Kuang Si Waterfall, is a socially responsible and sustainable farm that aims to improve the rural prosperity, welfare, nutrition, and health of the local population, with a focus on buffalo farming. To support the farm, visit the buffalos! They even have an ice cream hut on the road. You can book a tour of the farm or stop and taste some of their cheeses.

Free the Bears

Hear the moving stories of the rescued bears, meet the bears and help the Bear Care Team prepare food and enrichment treats. You'll be delighted watching the bears search and gobble down the treats you've hidden. Get special behind-the-scene access to a Bear sanctuary with their 'Bear Care Tour'. An exciting and once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Manifa Elephant Experience

On the road to Pak Ou Caves, go to interact, or just to observe the elephants. This unique experience, is all about nurturing, loving and learning about Asian elephants as well as getting a fascinating glimpse of Lao culture in harmony with nature.

Living Craft Center by
​OCK POP TOK

Discover Laos through textiles. This beautiful centre is right on the Mekong. Take a free tour, or book a class or workshop, the restaurant and gift shop is open from 8am to 8pm. This is a project run by women for the women of Laos.

UNESCO WALKING TOUR

Nice walk on the other side of the Mekong. Take the ferry boat to the other river bank and enjoy the peacefulness of this village through the temples.

TAEC museum

The perfect place to learn about Laos ethnic diversity. An engaging, culturally rich learning center located in the heart of Luang Prabang city. Since 2007, TAEC shows and aims to preserve the diverse ethnic cultures of Laos through professionally curated exhibitions, events and crafts workshops.

OCK POP TOK LIVING CRAFT CENTER

Experience Laos through textiles — alongside our Master Weavers and experienced teachers you can try your own hand at traditional crafts. A wide range of classes in silk weaving, natural dyes, batik drawing and bamboo weaving are available — from half day to 1, 2 or 3 day classes.

LIVING LAND - RICE EXPERIENCE

​Learn how to plant rice and work with a buffalo. This unique half-day rice farming experience is set in idyllic countryside setting surrounded by mountains. If you like to see the process of planting and harvesting rice in the rice paddy, it is the best activity ever!

LAO POTTERY HOUSE

Thieng Lamphet and his wife Khankeo Syauksone run a pottery house in their local village on the other side of the Mekong river. We invite you to experience pottery with these lovely local people and support them. Get hands-on to create a piece of your own: bowl, flower vase.
